Recently, the facet is exploring the opportunity to collaborate with organizations dealing with human trafficking issues.  Haiti has been a haven for criminal activities including human smuggling, human trafficking and illegal adoptions and things have gotten worse since the earthquake in January 2010. Human trafficking is a problem around the world and even in Detroit, Michigan. We are also exploring the opportunity to collaborate with the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW) to address the issues of women.  IEEW is currently developing a program entitled, Peace Through Business in Haiti.

To recognize the contribution of mental health on one’s overall health and well-being, the Renaissance Links hosted a half-day conference on mental health awareness.  Entitled “One Crisis from Crazy”, the conference was well attended and transformative for its 200 participants.

In partnership with the Jalen Rose Academy, the Renaissance Chapter of the Links will launch the Model United Nations Curriculum at the school.  Students will be exposed to disparate cultures, policies and legislative processes to promote awareness and engagement of public policy.
